Sources vary depending on whether you consider Whitefish Lake; one, or 2 separate lakes (Upper & Lower). Also consider this – do we count Loon Lake separately, or is Loon Lake included as part of Island Lake? And we can continue by asking if Hen Lake is a separate lake, or is Hen Lake included as part of Rush Lake… well you kind of see where we’re going here… As you can see the actual number of lakes within the Whitefish Chain of Lakes is debatable depending on your understanding and perspective. Well with that said this is our take on the situation:
- Arrowhead Lake
- Bertha Lake
- Big Trout Lake
- Clamshell Lake
- Cross Lake
- Daggett Lake
- Island Lake
- Little Pine Lake
- Loon Lake
- Lower Hay Lake
- Pig Lake
- Rush-Hen Lake
- Upper Whitefish Lake
- Lower Whitefish Lake
And last but certainly not least – Ojibwa named Kadikumagokag, or “Lake Where There Are Many Whitefish” —> we wrap up our list with Whitefish Lake (But we do recognize Upper and Lower Whitefish as two separate lakes.) So, there you have it. That completes our list at 14 interconnecting lakes that make up the beautiful Whitefish Chain of Lakes.
