In 1933, as Prohibition came to an end, the fun officially began in Crosslake. That year, Carl Holt built and opened the original dance hall and rental cabins that became Moonlite Bay Resort. While the property has evolved over the decades—and the original structure has even burned down a couple of times—the spirit of Moonlite Bay has remained the same: a go-to destination for good times and lakeside fun.
Getting there is easy, whether visitors arrive by water at one of 70 boat slips or by land via snowmobile trails that connect from four different directions. In 2021, Moonlite Bay added Pub ’33, a separate upstairs dining space often described as “Moonlite Bay, just slightly elevated.” Pub ’33 is open in the summer on Thursdays and Fridays starting at 4:00 PM, and Saturdays and Sundays starting at noon.
Moonlite Bay is more than just a restaurant and bar—it’s deeply rooted in the community. From hosting the Ice Tee Open to benefit Camp Knutson and planning Winterfest weekend to partnering with the PAL Foundation on local improvements, Moonlite Bay consistently finds creative ways to support the “Beauty Spot of Minnesota.”
Highly recommended by WhitefishChain.com and considered a must-experience destination on the Whitefish Chain of Lakes, Moonlite Bay is where good friends gather and old friends reunite. When visitors are ready to unwind, laugh a little louder, and make lasting memories, Moonlite Bay is the place to be—since ’33.
